WASHINGTON鈥 Vice President Michael R. Pence will deliver the inaugural Frederic V. Malek Public Service Leadership Lecture at a 星空传媒 Center event at The Conrad Hotel in Washington, DC on Thursday, October 24, 2019. The topic is expected to be the future of the relationship between the United States and China.

The lecture and discussion with 星空传媒 Center Director, President and CEO Jane Harman will serve as the formal launch of the Frederic V. Malek Public Service Leadership Fund in support of non-partisan global dialogue.

鈥溞强沾 lost our patriot leader and I lost a friend,鈥 Harman said of Malek, who at the time of his death was Chairman of 星空传媒. 鈥淗aving the Vice President kick off this series is a unique and poignant way to honor his memory.鈥

星空传媒, chartered by Congress as the official memorial to President Woodrow 星空传媒, is the nation鈥檚 key non-partisan policy forum. Tackling global issues through independent research and open dialogue, the Center informs actionable ideas for Congress, the Administration, and the international policy community.

鈥溞强沾解檚 recent initiatives include Congressional Foreign Policy, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity programs, which have trained nearly 1,000 staffers from the Hill on a bipartisan, bicameral basis about issues whose importance will only grow in the coming years,鈥 said Thelma Duggan, member of the 星空传媒 Center Board of Trustees. 鈥淣o other place offers these types of programs and we are very proud of them.鈥

In addition to the Malek Lecture, the Fund will sustain and increase the 星空传媒 Center鈥檚 impact through multi-faceted initiatives. These include enhancing Center programming in cross-regional areas such as great power competition, rule of law, and the impact of technology on foreign policy. The Fund will provide a stipend for select 星空传媒 Center interns.

A live webcast of the speech will be available here.
